It's good to get out of the house in the cold weather for some fresh air, but your baby's skin is thin and especially sensitive to temperature changes. Here are some tips to help prepare and protect your baby's skin from the upcoming winter season.
Rub a Dub:
Try to limit bath time to 10 minutes and ensure the water is lukewarm temperature. Apply a gentle, mild and tear-free cleanser to their delicate skin and hair.
Soak It Up:
After bath time, make sure to apply an unscented moisturizer on your baby's skin within two minutes of their bath to soften and condition the skin and help reduce redness and irritation.
Function or Fashion:
Though tempting to buy all those beautiful baby clothes you stroll by...try to stick to natural fabrics rather than synthetic (as much as possible). The natural fibres allow your baby's skin to "breathe" and help prevent them from sweating, which can irritate their skin.
Watch The Booty:
While on the topic of clothes, by bundling our babies in extra layers during the winter their bottoms become more vulnerable to sweat which can lead to rashes. Use a good diaper cream that protects your baby's skin from friction and moisture.
Limit The Rays:
The sun is still out in the winter! Don't forget to apply sunscreen even in the -20 degree temperature, UV rays are still strong. If baby is too young for sunscreen, keep them well covered.
