True or False: Heartburn in pregnancy equals a newborn baby with a full hear of hair.

True!

Researchers at Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore found  a correlation between heartburn and the hairiness of a newborn actually exists.  According to an article in Fit Pregnancy magazine "When pregnant women reported moderate heartburn, they had hairy newborns 82 percent of the time; the majority of heartburn-free women gave birth to bald babies."

It's all about the hormones of course.  Researchers are concluding that the pregnancy hormones which play a role in prenatal hair growth (estrogen and progesterone), also relax the muscles at the bottom of the mother's esophagus and cause gastric reflux, aka heartburn.
